Italians have been making wine for some 3,000 years. Today, Italy is the world’s largest producer of wine. And while France, the USA, Australia and others produce excellent wines, we choose to honor the rich history of Italian viticulture with an all-Italian list.
With vast choices of Italian wines to choose from, we have elected to feature varietals that are not widely known in Omaha. If you have any difficulty selecting a wine to accompany your meal, your server will be happy to help you find a wine that suits your palate.
Wine classifications
Italian wine has three main classifications:
Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC)
Wines that are historically significant to a region and meet strict production standards.
Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG)
Production standards are even more rigidly enforced than DOC wines, and wines are subject to limits in production.
Indicazione Geografica Tipica (IGT)
Grapes or blends that are prominent within a region, but do not have historical significance.
