Marche Wine Classes

Our Marche Wine School will be focused on three of the most important grapes of the region: Verdicchio, Montepulciano, and Sangiovese

Verdicchio has been cultivated in the Marche for hundreds of years, it shows its versatility producing both light, easy drinking wines to complex, rich, and ageworthy styles. We will be featuring two styles of Verdicchio: one that is aromatic, rich, and complex; and the other is a dry spumante (sparkling) style!

Montepulciano is grown widely in central Italy, most notably eastern Marche, Molise, and Abruzzo. Named after the famous Tuscan parish of Montepulciano, but surprisingly, is not used in the wines produced there. Montepulciano is the second most planted red grape in Italy (behind Sangiovese), and we’ll be featuring two different styles: rosato (rose) that is dry, fresh, and darling; and from Rosso Conero, the most prestigious DOC for Montepulciano in the Marche, “Il Cacciatore di Sogni” (The Hunter of Dreams). This wine is deep, bold, powerful, and purple!

Finally we’ll finish with Sangiovese, Italy’s most famous grape. The producer, Angelini, only uses estate grown fruit and this riserva wine is aged for 18 months in new large oak barrels. Spicy, with stewed fruit, dark cherries, and a pinch of cedar.

Join us on either Saturday, March 27th or Sunday, March 28th at 2:30pmwhere you will sip and learn about these 5 wines and enjoy some complimentary snacks. Seats are $50 each, with limited seating available to ensure proper social distancing. We’re excited for you to experience the wines from one of Italy’s most underrated wine growing regions!
