Come with us and take your tastebuds on a trip down memory lane with Chef Nick Strawhecker’s regionally-inspired menu at our Tuscan Wine Dinner. Sixteen years ago, Chef Strawhecker was working in the gorgeous Tuscan town of Cortona for the Michelin 2 Star Restaurant/Winery/Resort of Il Falconiere. It was there that he learned lessons in agricultural sustainability, mastered the nuances of true Rustic Italian cuisine and gained much of the inspiration that led him to create Dante. Tuscany is one of Italy’s most famous regions and with good reason. The landscape and gorgeous scenery is the epitome of romantic and the lure of the friendly people, their culture and the incredible food and wine produced is legendary. The region is famous for their cuisine and their affinity for fresh, local and natural food sources in addition to sustainable agricultural and production of many of Italy’s most sought-after wines.
Chef Strawhecker has many fond memories of his time in Tuscany, from attending the legendary Alba Truffle Auction with Wolfgang Puck and exploring the markets of Cortona, to his time spent working at Il Falconiere (which means “The Falconer”). Il Falconiere has been in the Baracchi family for 7 generations and it’s picture perfect setting includes the family vineyards along with resort accommodations, a Michelin-starred restaurant and their own winery. Grapes have been grown on the estate for winemaking since the 1860’s, and while the processes have evolved, the quality has always been their focus. Baracchi wines are considered to be among the best in the region with several boasting scores of 90 and above on WineSpectator.com.
During this special event, Chef Nick Strawhecker will feature a Tuscan-inspired Rustic Italian menu made with the hyperseasonal, local ingredients Dante is well-known for. Adam Weber, Dante Sommelier and IWP, will be your host as you enjoy Four Courses expertly paired with Full-pours of Four Wines from Il Falconiere’s legendary Baracchi Winery in Cortona.
